“Where can I get information about scholarships and grants to attend school?”

Answer

Scholarships and grants are examples of free money you can get to pay for school. Unlike student loans, scholarships and grants do not have to be paid back.

Scholarships recognize accomplishments in many categories, not just academic excellence. They’re available from numerous sources, including governments, businesses, and schools. Sometimes membership in a particular organization is all you need to qualify for a scholarship.

You’ll need to do some research to find scholarships you might be eligible for. And you’ll need you’ll need to submit an application.

Provincial and federal grants are available to students in financial need. There is no separate application process. You are automatically assessed when you apply for a student loan. Applications for both federal and provincial loans are made through Alberta Student Aid.

The Government of Canada’s Canada Student Grants and Loans program has grants for full-time students, part-time students, full-time students with dependents, part-time students with dependents, and students with disabilities. Federal grants for services and equipment are also available for students with disabilities.

The Government of Alberta’s Student Aid program has grants for full-time students and students with disabilities. Part-time students who are not eligible for the Canada Student Grant for Part-Time Studies may qualify for the Alberta Part-Time Grant.
