job seeker at job fair
Question
Look for Work, Plan Your Career

“Where can I learn about career and job fairs near where I live?”

Answer

Follow the Alberta government’s regional Facebook pages for info on job fairs in your area of the province.

Here are the links you need:

You can also search the internet for “job fairs in Alberta” to find opportunities across the province.

Job fairs bring employers and potential employees together. They’re a great place to learn about job openings and research jobs and employers.

Be sure you go prepared. Research the employers you’re interested in, make a list of questions you want to ask them, and take lots of resumés with you. Make sure you dress to make a good impression. And be prepared to talk about yourself and your interests. The employers you meet may give you an on-the-spot interview!

After the job fair, be sure to follow up with the employers you’ve talked to. Send a thank-you email, mention having met at the fair, and let them know if you’re planning to apply for a job with their company. Thank them for their time and attach a copy of your resumé. Making contact within 24 hours will help employers keep you in mind as they review the job fair resumés they’ve collected.
