Develop core business acumen, technical knowledge and the soft skills employers are looking for with the industry-recognized Bachelor of Business Administration degree. This program features small classroom settings that foster cooperative learning, guided by faculty members who bring real-life experiences to your courses. You'll start in a common first year to begin building skills in leadership, teamwork, critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving and effective communication. Then, you'll dive deeper into a specialization by selecting one of seven majors. Accounting Learn to measure, improve and report on financial performance and execute advanced accounting tasks. Using industry-standard information management systems, you'll learn how technology can optimize operations and decision-making. Finally, you'll develop a firm understanding of tax regulations, government rules and standards, ensuring you can help clients make ethical and smart business decisions. Our accounting graduates are prepared to enter the Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) Professional Education Program and earn their designation. Financial Services Develop the essential skills needed to work in financial advising, banking, investing or insurance for personal or corporate clients. You'll learn to build trusting relationships with clients, analyze and understand their needs, make informed financial decisions, and navigate Canadian and global financial systems. Financial Services graduates can earn their Investment Funds in Canada (IFIC), Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and Personal Financial Planner (PFP) designations by passing the necessary exams. Financial Technology and Innovation Learn how to leverage fintech to spur business growth and adapt to the rapidly shifting technological landscape. As a fintech major, you'll learn the art of data analytics, design thinking, and how to create digital financial products and services that meet market needs and regulatory requirements. Human Resource Management Develop a robust understanding of HR practices and employment relationships, including common issues, laws and unions' roles in workplaces. Learn how to evaluate and enhance health, safety and wellness programs to improve employee well-being and organizational success. Master the technical skills required to gather, analyze and report HR data for organizational performance. As a graduate, you'll be equipped with your Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation. Management Develop the personal skills, professional behaviours and strategic mindset vital for an effective leader. Learn to use tech, formulas and calculations to support various business functions and understand the basic laws that govern business ownership and transactions. Refine your project and operations management skills and achieve project goals in diverse and dynamic environments. Graduates can pursue their Certified in Management (CIM) designation and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Marketing Learn to create, strengthen and manage brands effectively, identify market opportunities and master the art of strategic planning. Take a deep dive into marketing research techniques and uncover valuable insights to understand consumer needs and behaviours. Gain experience with the latest digital marketing technologies to optimize campaigns and learn what it means to be a product manager. Graduates may pursue their Certified Sales Professional (CSP) designation. Supply Chain Management Learn how to blend supply chain theory and practice to support essential business functions. Understand how to follow ethical practices, industry standards and regulations. Learn to the analyze data needed for crucial decisions in procurement, logistics and inventory management roles. Graduates can pursue their Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP), Professional Logistician (P.Log) and Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) designations. Minors Opportunities for additional specialization are available through two optional minors. Our Construction Project Management minor is a pathway to business roles in Canada's booming construction sector, focusing on managing significant capital projects, addressing design, risk, and conflict management. Our Energy, Oil and Gas minor is designed to prepare you for Alberta's energetic and changing energy landscape, with courses on technical, regulatory, and economic aspects from the renowned MacPhail School of Energy. Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following (or equivalent), as well as the English Proficiency requirement*:

1. An overall minimum average of 65% where:

  • English 30-1 has to be at least 60%,
  • Math 30-1 or Pure Math 30 have to be at least 60%, or Math 30-2 has to be at least 70%.

The average will be calculated using English 30-1, and Math 30-1 or Pure Math 30 or Math 30-2, and two courses from Group A and one course from either Group A or B.

Academic (Group A)

Academic courses may include at the Grade 12, 30-level or equivalent:

  • Social Studies 30-1, Math 31, Psychology, Sociology, History, Geography, Political Science, Languages, Philosophy, Business, Management, Marketing, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Indigenous Studies.
  • Other courses may also be considered.

Business-related dual-credit courses taken by high school students may be used for admission purposes.

Other (Group B)

One of the following:

  • Drama 30, Art 30 or 31
  • Music 30 (choral, instrumental, general)
  • Physical Education 30
  • Religion 35 and
  • Social Studies 30-2
    or:

Other five-credit grade 12 subjects or a combination of two three-credit grade 12 subjects may be considered.

Five credits of advanced career and technology courses.

Business-related dual-credit courses taken by high school students may be used for admission purposes.  

2. A SAIT Business Administration diploma or a Bachelor of Applied Business Administration or their equivalent from an accredited post-secondary institution, with a minimum 2.3 cumulative GPA, (67% or C+).

3. A two-year diploma or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited post-secondary institution, with a minimum 2.3 cumulative GPA, (67% or C+) and completion of English 30-1 and Math 30-1 or Pure Math 30 or Math 30-2 or equivalents**.

* All applicants must demonstrate English Language Proficiency prior to admission, including students educated in Canada.

** Admission is determined based on an applicant’s complete academic history, including both high school and post-secondary courses. Post-secondary level courses of similar learning outcomes may be considered for use in meeting admission requirements.

SAIT accepts high school course equivalents for admission. If applicants do not meet the requirements, they may consider Academic Upgrading.


Student Aid

This program is eligible for full-time post-secondary assistance by Alberta Student Aid for the funding year 2024/08/01 to 2025/07/31*.
