Bachelor of Science Psychology

The King's University

The King's University

www.kingsu.ca
The Bachelor of Science in Psychology (BSc PSYC) at King's provides students with the knowledge, skills, and critical awareness in the broad field of psychology, with a particular emphasis on the biological bases of behaviour. In recent decades, research into biopsychology and neurosciences has grown rapidly, and biological explanations for human experience and behaviour are widely sought after and highly valued. The BSc PSYC program aims to develop behavioural scientists with reflexive and contextualized understandings of the benefits and limitations of science and its applications. To achieve these goals, the program will (i) provide students with disciplinary knowledge and skills in psychology and pertinent areas of the natural sciences, especially biology and (ii) situate scientific learning within a historical-cultural perspective to guide students in identifying and analyzing the worldview assumptions underpinning scientific inquiry and personal belief systems. Graduates with this degree are equipped for work as research assistants particularly in areas such as neuroscience, neuropsychology, psychiatry, rehabilitation, and other biopsychological or health-related fields. They are also prepared for further study in these disciplines.
