The Interdisciplinary Therapy Assistant diploma program prepares students to work in today's dynamic health care system. This program provides students with a strong occupational and physical therapy assistant background and incorporates essential assistant-level skills in speech-language pathology and therapeutic recreation. Extensive hands-on learning using equipment and technology in the lab and various practicum placements prepare students to transition seamlessly into a discipline-specific or interdisciplinary role in rehabilitation.

Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements:
  • Minimum 60% in English Language Arts 30-1 or 70% in English Language Arts 30-2 or equivalent
  • Minimum 60% in Biology 30 or equivalent
  • Credit in Math 10C or equivalent
 

In addition to academic requirements, applicants whose first language is NOT English must demonstrate ONE of the following:

  • IELTS overall score of 6.5 with a minimum band score of 6.0
  • BVC Academic English 2 with a minimum grade of ‘B’
  • Canadian Language Benchmarks score of 8 in each strand
  • PTE A (Pearson Test of English) score of 59-64
  • TOEFL overall score of 84 with no section score below 21
  • Successful completion of an Alberta Education English Language Arts course that is consistent with the specified academic admission requirements for the Career Program
  • Transcripts demonstrating successful completion of three years of full-time secondary education at a school where English was the language of instruction
  • Transcripts demonstrating successful completion of one year of full-time post-secondary education at a school where English was the language of instruction

Student Aid

This program is eligible for full-time post-secondary assistance by Alberta Student Aid for the funding year 2023/08/01 to 2024/07/31*.

  • Books/Supplies/Instruments $1,500.00 Year One
  • Mandatory Fees $704.00 Year One

* Tuition, books, supplies, instruments, and other/mandatory fees are provided to Alberta Student Aid and may be used when processing full-time post-secondary funding applications.
