Admission Requirements
Students applying to ABES' Practical Nurse Diploma Program apply through either the Standard Admissions requirement or through Mature Admission and the requirements are as follows: Standard Admission Alberta High School diploma, verified by transcript, or non Alberta equivalent including:  English 30-1 with a minimum final mark of 60% or English 30-2 with a final mark of 70% or equivalent.  Math 20-1 with a passing final grade or Math 20-2 with a minimum final mark of 60% or equivalent.  Biology 30 with a minimum final mark of 60% or equivalent. Please note ABES will accept International Qualified Assessment Services (IQAS) or World Education Servies (WES) for verification for transcripts of International Students Additional Requirements  Police Information Check, including vulnerable sector.  Interview with program staff to ensure applicant is suitable for the profession.  If English is a second language a CLBA of 8 in all skills area or equivalent Mature Admission Student who does not meet the academic requirements listed under standard admission can apply through academic assessment and must meet the following:  Be out of high school for at least one year.  Are at least 19 years of age.  Successfully meet the entry levels on ABES' Accuplacer assessment test or equivalent as stated below.  Score a minimum on Wonderlic Scholastic Level Exam (SLE) - (Equivalent to Grade 12) Additional Requirements  Police Information Check, including vulnerable sector.  Interview with program staff to ensure applicant is suitable for the profession.  If English is a second language a CLBA of 8 in all skills area or equivalent is required. Science Equivalency for Mature Admission  Credit obtained for an Anatomy and Physiology, Biology or Medical Terminology course at a licensed or accredited post secondary institution. Math Equivalency Requirements for Mature Admission  A minimum score of 237 on ABES' Math Accuplacer Test, or equivalent

Student Aid

This program is eligible for full-time post-secondary assistance by Alberta Student Aid for the funding year 2024/08/01 to 2025/07/31*.
