This 12-week Pre-employment Automotive Service Technician program is comprised of the first period Automotive Service Technician apprenticeship program that SAIT currently offers. Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) stipulates that for graduates from pre-employment programs to be eligible to write the first period Trades Qualification exam, the pre-employment program must be at least 1.5 times the length of its corresponding apprenticeship period-program.

Admission Requirements

The entrance requirements will be at least 50% in the following courses or equivalents:

  • English Language Arts 30-1 or English Language Arts 30-2, AND
  • Math 20-1 or Math 20-2 or Math 20-3 or Pure Math 20 or Applied Math 20, AND
  • One Grade 11 Science.
  • All applicants must demonstrate English Language Proficiency prior to admission, including students educated in Canada.

Student Aid

This program is eligible for full-time post-secondary assistance by Alberta Student Aid for the funding year 2023/08/01 to 2024/07/31*.

  • Tuition $6,564.00 Year One
  • Books/Supplies/Instruments $3,950.00 Year One
  • Mandatory Fees $950.00 Year One

* Tuition, books, supplies, instruments, and other/mandatory fees are provided to Alberta Student Aid and may be used when processing full-time post-secondary funding applications. The educational costs provided are based on a 100% full-course load and may not reflect current or all educational costs charged by the school.
