Finding a job you like starts with knowing yourself and knowing your options.
Knowing yourself is the first of 4 steps in planning your career. Once you’ve identified what you like and what you’re good at, you can use this information to find a job that suits you.
Start by doing some research. Find out as much as you can about occupations and industry sectors that interest you:
- Launch your search by making a list of your favourite subjects. Then search the hundreds of occupational profiles on alis. Use the search filters for “High School Subjects” and “Field of Study” to find jobs that match your favourite subjects.
- Talk to people in fields that interest you to find out what their jobs are like.
- Use labour market information to find out what jobs are in demand,
- Check out these occupational videos for information about specific types of jobs.
